Thank you for visiting my website!

I am an assistant professor of International and Global Studies at Portland State University. At Portland State, I am also an affiliated faculty in the Earth, Environment, and Society Doctoral Program and Department of Geography, an associated faculty of the Institute for Asian Studies, and a faculty fellow of the Institute for Sustainable Solutions. My disciplinary training is in Geography, Gender Relations in International Development, Development Studies, and Physical Sciences.

I live in Portland, OR, in the picturesque American Pacific NW. I have lived (and attended grad school) in Urbana-Champaign in central Illinois; Athens in southeast Ohio; and in Guwahati, an Indian city on the banks of Tsangpo/ Brahmaputra river. I grew up and attended college in Hyderabad in southern India, a city founded in 1589 AD with enduring connections to Iran and Turkey, and lived briefly in a German coastal town called Kiel, around 55 miles from Denmark, as a toddler with a sadly limited cognition of life just a few months before the German unification!
